Coronavirus Emergency: Special request
Kind Attention: Presidents & ECs of Hotel Members of FAITH; HAI, FHRAI, IHHA & Cause Partners AIRDA,
Dear Industry Colleagues,
You may pls refer to my trailing mail dated 29th January 2020.
I am once again making a special request on behalf of the travel trade member associations of FAITH - ATOAI, ADTOI, IATO, TAAI & TAFI.
The Coronavirus (COVID 19) has already been declared as a Pandemic and the world is going through an unprecedented crisis. According to WHO, there have been 9.41 million confirmed cases and 4.82 lac deaths globally as of 26th June 2020 and the virus is still rapidly increasing its footprint.
UNWTO estimates that the global Travel & Tourism industry could witness downward trend by 1 billion in International Tourist Arrivals and USD 1 trillion in Revenues in 2020.
This is emerging to be a full-blown crisis as nearly all countries have closed their borders. Though some countries have opened their borders, it is still a long haul before normalcy in business can be expected. Globally, airlines and travel companies are taking unprecedented measures to safeguard the interest of their guests and therefore arriving at polices to safeguard their travel distribution partners from cancellation penalties from such bookings.
On behalf of the complete industry, may I once again request you to advise your members to arrive at policies which do not levy cancellation charges or penalties or future adjustments on such cancellations. It is also requested if office bearers of all 5 travel trade associations (ATOAI, ADTOI, IATO, TAAI & TAFI) may be kept in the loop while communicating with respective members.
The whole Indian, tourism, travel & hospitality industry has to stand together and protect the interest & integrity of all its travel partners along the value chain while protecting its assets and customers.
I express my gratitude on behalf of the whole Indian, tourism, travel & hospitality industry for your actions on the above.
Thanks & regards,
NAKUL ANAND
CHAIRMAN

Dear Industry Colleagues,
This is a special request on the behalf of the travel & tour member associations of FAITH - ATOAI, ADTOI, IATO, TAAI & TAFI.
As you are aware, the world is going through an unprecedented medical crisis. The Coronavirus (nCov), which emerged from the Wuhan region of China and has already reportedly claimed more than 100 casualties and more than 5000 impacted and is rapidly increasing its footprint.
This is emerging to be a full-blown crisis as the source country is the largest outbound travel market of the world with an estimated almost half a million + daily travellers. While the region has been quarantined and Chinese borders closed, airlines and travel companies are taking unprecedented measures to safeguard their other guests and at the same time they are arriving at polices to safeguard their travel distribution partners from cancellation penalties from such bookings.
On the behalf of the complete industry, may I request you to advise your members to arrive at policies which do not levy cancellation charges or penalties on such cancellations.
The whole Indian, tourism, travel & hospitality industry has to stand together and protect the interest & integrity of all its travel partners along the value chain while protecting its assets & customers.
