Rucksack Tours Pvt Ltd is typically a small boutique travel company specialized in organising treks and expeditions in the Indian Himalayas.

Having drawn to Himalayas during student’s days, when we did several treks & climbed a few mountains up to 7000m, the two of us – Rani & Shashank, decided in 1986 to form an entrepreneurial venture with zero capital and no readymade business – while just sharing a common passion for adventure travel.  

We have personally trekked all along the Himalayas in the remote valleys – of Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan & Arunachal Pradesh.

With this background and vast in-depth experience, we could address any issue, related to sorting, designing, planning and execution of any adventure trip, with utmost ease.

Whether a journeys’ emphasis is Mountain Climbing, Trekking, Wildlife / Camel or Jeep Safaris, Motorcycle or Mountain biking Trips, Natural History or Cultural Exploration – Rani and Shashank team bring a special dimension to your travel with their over 25 years of experience.

During the course, we have handled over 100 foreign expeditions on the peaks situated in the remotest corners of Himalayas. We have a proud privilege to serve some of the well-known mountaineers of the World. Some of them were nominated for the highest award in the field of Mountaineering – ‘The Piolet d’Or or The Golden Ice Axe’ and two of our teams won it - in 2001 Thomas Huber & Iwan Wolf for the first ascent of the direct North Pillar of Shivling (6543m); In 2002, it was awarded to Valery Babanov for the solo & first ascent of Mt. Meru Central (6310m).

And on one such expedition in 2012, Valery Razov created a sort of world record of first climbing Shivling (6543m) & then BASE jump from its top using a wing-suit & parachute. 

Brief details about the services offered:

We are fully geared to provide all logistical support to any trekking or climbing team, from arrival at airport to the Base Camp and back which covers accommodation, transportation, cargo clearance, all camping gears & provisions, portable gas cartridges & oxygen bottles, Gamow bag, support staff like Camp Manager-cook-assistant-high altitude porters- AND administrative support like liaising with various Government Departments for getting necessary clearances & permits and also monitoring & expediting rescue operations in case of emergency, etc.
