Dear All
We have received an email from Ministry of Tourism ( appended) on webinar to be organised on Saturday, 8th August 2020 (1100-1200 hrs.) on the topic “Memoirs of 1857 - A Prelude to Independence”.
Our country stands as a testament to the victory over colonial tyranny. The sacrifice of our freedom fighters, the immense contribution made by our women nationalists, the participation of the young and the old, brought us our freedom on 15th August 1947. Though the road to independence was filled with obstacles, our nation came together, our leaders showed us the path to follow. The first war of India’s independence was fought in 1857 and the string of events kept following till we attained complete independence in 1947. Celebrating the theme of Independence, India City Walks will present the webinar with historic events and tourism perspective. The saga of our independence and the revolt of 1857 can be revisited through the monuments and buildings that bore the brunt of the revolt or came up as a result of it. From Delhi, Kanpur, Meerut to many other cities across the country, this webinar will tell a story of valour, sacrifice and bravery.
