1. Communication / Letters that addressed key issues
Segment 1 update sequence by date: 6,9, July
Monday, 6th July
IATO meeting with Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog - for request to
help the tourism industry for survival
Updating on the above, IATO requested Mr. Amitabh Kant that the
recommendation made to Niti Aayog are forwarded by his good office to
Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Commerce.
Copy of the letter was marked to JS Tourism.
Members were informed on Monday, 6th July.
Thursday,9thJuly
IATO`s inputs for Revival and Rebound of Tourism post COVID -19.
A Virtual meeting was called by Joint Secretary Tourism on 9th July
inviting IATO and other associations to discuss about revival and
rebound of tourism post Covid-19. Following our meeting with Joint
Secretary (Tourism), IATO gave its inputs which included Confidence
building measures, MDA Scheme, Overseas Marketing, strengthening of
India tourism offices and appointment of Marketing Representatives.

Tuesday, 7th July
IATO Interactive meeting with members was held on Tuesday, the 7th of July
2020 at 4 pm
Members were informed on Monday, the 6th of July. JS MOT was supposed to
address the members but due to extended meeting with the Hon’ble
Minister, he could not join us and shall make it next time.
Thursday, 9thJuly
IATO Online Survey on COVID-19 Pandemic Effect on Employment in Travel
& Tourism Industry
Members were requested to participate in the survey that will aid IATO
in soliciting financial and other support from the government. However,
it is very disheartening that out of 1700 members so far only 255
members have participated in the Survey. In order to get the required
figures about loss of jobs and other effects on Employment, we expect
bigger participation of our members in this online survey, which is very
confidential as no company name or email is being asked.

Monday, 6th July
Outlook Magazine in their latest edition did a cover story on how the
tourism sector has been badly hit by the pandemic. IATO has been quoted
in it.

Saturday,11th July
Along with reduction in entry fee at ASI monuments, Indian Association
of Tour Operators (IATO) has also demanded a visa waiver scheme for two
years
