SUB: INVITATION FOR SEMINAR ON ODISHA TOURISM ON 21^ST DECEMBER -2019 AT THE PARK HOTEL, NEW DELHI  

Pravasi Odia Vikash Samiti (POVS), a national level socio-cultural organization registered under ‘Societies Registration Act 1860’ in the State of Delhi  and involved in socio and cultural activities for last two decades in Delhi and outside Delhi is organizing a one day ‘National Seminar’ on Tourism in Odisha: Opportunities and Challenges on 21^st December,2019  at Hotel The Park,15 Parliament Street, New Delhi. The whole objective behind the event is to identify the present potential and resource the State of Odisha has in tourism sector to attract domestic and international tourists and holding discussion and deliberations by experts on ways to promote tourism  and to create tourism infrastructure through domestic and foreign investment in Odisha.

The event will be attended by senior cabinet ministers from Central and State Government, senior government officials from Ministry of Tourism and Department of Tourism of Odisha, Kerala and Gujarat, officials from hotel, travel & leisure industries, association of tour operators, media, airlines, corporate and Ambassadors from key high tourist receiving countries. About 250 target audience will participate in the event. The whole day event will have four panel discussions on various  topics related to tourism sector of Odisha. A copy of the tentative programme is enclosed.

The State of Odisha rightly remarked  as the India’s ‘Best kept Secret’ has every thing to offer to a discreet tourist, to a group of youth, to young couple, to members a family, to restless souls searching for nature, truth and God. Odisha is rich with temples with intricate architectures, cravings dating back to thousand of years, with coast running for 500 Kilometers, flora, fauna, waterfalls, lakes, islands, culture, dance, drama, handicrafts, cuisines, literature and language. Top on it, is the peaceful nature of the State due to its long practice of Jagannath dharma. Currently, the State is showing the best possible growth in education, health care and social sectors while compared to other States in India. However, Odisha needs concerted efforts at private and government level  to shine on the national and international tourist map. The event is out of that desire to promote tourism to Odisha and to learn and bring best practices to the tourism sector.

The event will be first of its kind in India to be organized by a socio-cultural organization. Tourism is one of the sector identified which can create large job opportunities for our youth masses. The event will definitely give us ideas, suggestions on the reforms needed and the ways forward.
