MHA rejects move to collect tourists biometrics on arrival
30th June 2015
To, All members,
Dear Members,
As you know, we have been pleading and writing repeatedly to our Ministry and also to MHA and PMO about the following:-
1. Biometric process by the Indian Embassies/Consulates overseas be stopped for normal visa and all biometric to be done upon arrival in India at the entry point
2. To allow double/multiple entry to the tourists on e-Tourist Visa as most of the tourist would like to combine India packages with neighbouring countries.
However, in the last meeting held between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Home Affairs, no results have yielded. Enclosed press clippings is self-explanatory in this regard. You will appreciate the difficulties which we have to face in getting all these things cleared from the government. All our requests must be channeled through our Nodal Ministry i.e. Ministry of Tourism and MHA is not even listening to our Nodal Ministry. It appears there is no immediate solution on the above two issues.
However, our efforts will continue till we achieve the success.
Also please read another press article about seven more airports to be added for e-Tourist Visa holders which include Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Amritsar, Gaya, Lucknow and Tiruchi, which will be beneficial for our members.
This is for your information please.
With regards,
Gour Kanjilal
Executive Director
