Sub: The Jaisalmer War Museum
 
We have been informed by our Chapter Chairman, Rajasthan Mr. Bhim Singh ji about setting up of The Jaisalmer War Museum and Celebration of Golden Jubilee of 1965 war’s victory etc.
 
This coincides with India celebrates the Golden Jubilee of 1965 war’s victory over Pakistan this year to commemorate it with the setting up of the Jaisalmer War Museum. This will be the first time that India will commemorate a war so elaborately. The setting up of this museum is intended to celebrate each day as the victory of our Nation and its Military forces, conveying the sacrifices of the martyrs and actions of the gallant soldiers to the nation. The exhibition at the Museum by the three wings of the defense forces will recreate some of Indian War’s major battles through tableaux, sand models and 3D imagery.
 
Set up at Military Station Jaisalmer, The Museum is coming up on a Grand Scale and covers an area of over 10 Acres of Land. Setup beautifully this exclusive world class museum showcases for the tourists a whole bouquet of Indian Military Wars and highlights the Longewala Battle, set amidst landscaped Lawns, Fountains, Artificial Water Cascades.  It celebrates our Victories and Might, our Capabilities and Exploits and is complimented by a large number of Battle Tanks, Cannons and assorted War Machines. Visitors can see The Audio Visual Room, The Longewala Hall, The Army Hall in the museum. 
 
The museum is the first of its kind on the western front and traces the evolution of the Indian army and covers the contribution in all combat operations and other nation building activities. The Museum is organized by the Indian Army. The museum is expected to attract local as well as foreign tourists. The Indian Air Force has also contributed in the museum by presenting a hunter aircraft, which was used during the Battle for Laungewala during the 1971 Indo Pak War.
 
The War Museum is situated at about 10 kms short of Jaisalmer along the Jaisalmer - Jodhpur highway. 
 
The entry to the war museum will be free for all visitors.
