Sub: Instructions issued for amending various provision related to e-Visa.

As you know that Ministry of Tourism has been continuously working with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs for liberalizing and streamlining the visa regime to facilitate inflow of inbound tourism to our country for which IATO has been giving its inputs from time to time.

You will be pleased to know that provisions relating to e-Visa are being amended by the Ministry of Home Affairs for facilitation of tourists, which has been informed to us by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India Office Memorandum letter No. TT/60/2019-TT dated 11th July 2024.

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued various instructions amending the following provisions related to e-Visa, which are as follows:-

1.           Port Blair Seaport, Andaman and Nicobar lslands is now an authorized lCP for entry of Foreign nationals holding e-Visa. Now persons holding e-Visa will be allowed to enter into India at 6 major Indian seaports namely, (1)  Mumbai (2) Cochin (3) Mormugao (4) Chennai (5) New Mangalore and (6) Port Blair. Further, cruise tourism will be allowed at Port Blair Seaport only after creation of necessary infrastructure at cruise Terminal (Port Blair).

In this regard I would like to inform that during visit of our President Mr. Rajiv Mehra, in August 2023, he met the Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and gave some suggestions Regarding Promotion of Tourism to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He also requested him to take up with the Govt. of India to include Port Blair seaport in E-Visa regime and Hon’ble Lt Governor mentioned that e-tourist visa immigration staff is available at the Port Blair international airport who could be deputed at the sea port as and when required once Port Blair sea port is included in e-Visa.

2.           It has been decided to extend the e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant visa facility on ‘Gratis Basis” to Bangladeshi Nationals (for one patients and maximum 03 attendants) travelling to India from Bangladesh by Air, through airports having direct. Flight connectivity with Bangladesh, at e-visa facility designated-international airports only. e-Medical/ e-Medical attendant visa to Bangladeshi nationals shall be subject to the following conditions

(a)          Only those Bangladeshi nationals can apply for lndia e-Medical visa and e-Medical Attendant visa who have obtained Invitation Letter from Indian Hospitals through the "Medical and Ayush Visa" portal'

(b)          E.Medical visa and e.Medical Attendant visa shall be only for those Bangladeshi nationals who travel to India from Bangladesh by Air, through airports having direct flight connectivity with Bangladesh, through e-visa facility designated international airports for e-visa, as mentioned in sub-para (1) of Para2.4 of visa Manual 2019.

(c) Clubbing of activities, as allowed vide Note (l) below para 2.2 of Visa Manual, Shall not be allowed on e-Medical/e-Medical Attendant visa granted to Bangladeshi nationals.

3.           Other provisions of chapter 2 "e-Visa",  shall apply to the e-Medical/e-Medical Attendant Visa for Bangladeshi national.

4.           Further, we would also like to inform that recently gratis e-Visa has been granted to the nationals of Malaysia and Thailand for 30 days visa. However, they have to apply for E-Visa as per normal practice and there would be zero Visa Fee for 30 days e-Visa.  Country wise visa fee for e-Visa is attached for your ready reference.
