To All Members

Dear Friends,

Sub: Promotion of Gwalior by the IATO Members in their itineraries.

A Fam trip of Gwalior was organized by the District Collector, Gwalior and CEO, Gwalior Smart City in coordination with IATO from 3rd to 5th February 2024 for the IATO Active Members and members of ATOAI, tour operators and guides from Orchha and travel trade media, wherein 60 members including spouses participated besides local stakeholders. The fam tour was organized to showcase Gwalior’s rich cultural heritage and history amongst our members with an aim to promote Gwalior in our itineraries.

It was an amazing experience to exclusively visit Gwalior and explore the city. There are lot of places for the tourists’ interest including the iconic Gwalior Fort, Jai Vilas Palace, Mohammad Gaus’s, Tomb, and Gujari Mahal. Detailed insights into the historical significance of these landmarks were provided by the experienced guides, enriching the participants’ understanding.Delegates also explored places like Maharaj Bada and nearby historical sites, and morning bird-watching session at Tighra, enhancing the excursion with natural beauty. The trip aimed was not only to educate the delegates but also to position Gwalior as a premier tourist destination, stimulating growth in the local tourism sector and boosting the economy.

Delegates also visited the recently renovated Taj Usha Kiran Palace who hosted hi tea for the delegates and The Radisson Hotel during their trip. Delegates stayed at Hotel Tansen Regency which is a good 3 star property of Madhya Pradesh Tourism. Besides these, there are other good hotels in the city and there is no shortage of quality accommodation.

All the members in the Fam Trip were very happy and are of the opinion that Gwalior is a must place to visit as there are enough tourist places which need atleast 2 nights stay in Gwalior.

Members are thus requested to include Gwalior while designing their itineraries along with other destinations of Madhya Pradesh, both for domestic as well as foreign tourists.

With best wishes,

Rajiv Mehra
