Sub: Update on e-Tourist Visa for travel to India. 

Dear Friends,  

This is further reference to our circular dated 7th October 2021, wherein we had informed you regarding the announcement made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India  about resuming of Tourist Visas to Foreigners coming to India through chartered flights with effect from 15th October 2021 and with effect from 15th November for other tourists. 

A copy of the MHA Office Memorandum dated 7th October is attached for your ready reference and is self-explanatory. 

Further please note that the Government official website for applying for visa including e-Tourist Visa has been updated and foreign tourists who wish to apply for e-Tourist Visa can apply on the following link:-

A list of countries/nationalities who are eligible to avail e-Visa and instructions for the applicants are given on the above links. 

Further please note the following:- 

  1. Validity for e-Tourist Visa is for One Month (30 Days) with Single Entry, non-extendable and non-convertible.
  2. In the list of countries/nationalities who are eligible to avail e-Visa,  names of following countries have been removed.
  3. Canada
  4. China
  5. China Macau
  6. China Sar Hongkong
  7. Indonesia
  8. Iran
  9. Kazakhastan
  10. Kyrgystan
  11. Malaysia
  12. United Kingdom
  13. Uzbekistan 

We have taken up with the Ministry of Tourism to request Ministry of Home Affairs that e-Tourist Visa should be of Double Entry with 60 days validity as tourist are wanting to travel to Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan along with India. 

We have also requested the ministry that e-tourist visa should be permitted for tourist entering through land from Nepal atleast to facilitate the Buddhist Tourists Movements. 

We are taking up with the Ministry to resume e-Tourist Visa from above countries especially from our major source markets like Canada, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Malaysia, China Macau, & China Sar Hong Kong in e-Tourist Visa and China and other remaining countries to be considered once conditions are favourable.
