To All Members

Dear Colleagues,

Sub: Regarding revision in entry fee for the ASI Protected Monuments

As you are aware, there was a proposal from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)  to increase the monuments entry fee w.e.f. 1st November 2015. However, IATO took up the matter with the Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Culture and with his timely intervention, IATO could get this entry fee increase deferred till 31st March 2016. Also we emphasized that the increase should not be so high and this should be increased gradually in a phased manner.

We are still trying that increase should be rational and in staggering manner. This matter was raised during the interactive meeting held on 14th January 2016,  where Secretary Tourism and Director General (ASI) were present along with other senior officials from their ministries.

To be on the safer side, we advise all our members to note the following:-

The increase in the entry fee by ASI w.e.f. 1st April 2016 may be as per following (as was proposed earlier but deferred till 31st March 2016)

• For Category A monuments  -  from Rs. 250 to Rs. 750
• For Category B monuments -  from Rs. 100 to Rs. 300

Members are advised to keep this in mind while sending their quotations to their counterparts abroad so that there is no loss in revenue by the members at a later stage.

We are still trying our best to get the ASI monuments fee reduced and shall further keep you updated on the matter, as soon as there is any positive development.

With best regards,

Pronab Sarkar
